New BASF Coatings Internet site judged “Best Website” in “Automotive Website Challenge”

Rated “excellent”: The recently redesigned BASF Coatings AG global Internet site has brought home its first award. In the “Automotive Website Challenge,” organised by the trade magazines “automanager.de” and “Automobil-Industrie” and the Accenture management consulting company, the new site got the highest score and was selected as the best web site in the month of October. In the competition, a jury of experts evaluated the site's pages on the basis of criteria like timeliness, speed, and usefulness.

The experts found the “www.basf-coatings.de” site to be nearly flawless in terms of content and general design. The consistent use of colour in the individual menus promotes user friendliness, and the importance of BASF Coatings products is readily apparent, even for non-experts, the judges found. The testers rated the “Color Trends” area as a special highlight. Here, colour experts from BASF Coatings publish their forecasts for the colour trends that will emerge in coming years.

According to the jury, up-to-date press releases, tips for training in the company, and succinct descriptions of the company's safety and environment policy round out the picture. In past months, the award was won by web sites operated by such well known companies as BMW and Bosch. With a score of 124, the BASF Coatings site is among the absolute leaders among the sites that have been reviewed to date.

“Of course we are pleased with this award, but we tend to look upon it as additional encouragement to continually expand our site and improve it further,” says Dr Martin Rissmann, head of Global Communications at BASF Coatings AG. Integrating the company's non- European sites into the website and launching a separate area on the subject of “Design” are planned in coming months.
