Holliday Pigments reaches 120 year milestone
Holliday Pigments, the world's largest manufacturer of ultramarine blue pigments, has reached a significant milestone and is celebrating its 120 years' anniversary this year. To mark the achievement and kick-start celebrations, a presentation to the longest serving employee took place at the Hull factory.
With 35 years experience at Holliday Pigments' Hull base, John Monks has seen the company grow radically over the years to become internationally renowned. Commended for his dedication to the company and acknowledged for his fitness levels, Monks was presented with a re-sprayed ultramarine blue bicycle by Holliday Pigments Chairman, Robert Rae.
Joining in 1969, Monks recalls his early days at the factory and compares them to the present day developments. Monks comments: “Since joining the company 35 years ago, the factory has transformed. The factory has set an international precedent in environmental terms. We are the only major ultramarine blue manufacturer in the world to have implemented an FGD plant. The company has invested huge sums of money to ensure our products comply with legislation.
“Holliday Pigments has modernised in all areas. Advanced product ranges have been developed to meet demands from all sectors, from artists' colours to car manufacturing. We have definitely progressed somewhat since the early days when we were originally known as Reckitts and supplied laundry whitener.”
Delighted to be representing Holliday Pigments, Robert Rae concludes: “Reaching 120 years' operation is a remarkable achievement for a British company. I am honoured to be part of a committed and passionate team. Our staff members have played a vital role in reaching this huge milestone. Presenting John with his special blue bike is a symbol of his dedication to the company but also shows that it is the determination of our staff that ensures the consistent success of Holliday Pigments.”
