European Polymer Congress 2007

2-6 JulyPortorozÏ, SloveniaThe European Polymer Congresses are some of the most important international events held in the field of polymer science. Meetings take place biannually under the auspices of the European Polymer Federation (EPF, www.europolymer.org) and are organized in the European countries that at that period chair the EPF. With the election of Prof. Majda ZÏigon from the National Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana, as a President of the EPF for 2006 and 2007, the next EPF congress will be organized for the very first time in Slovenia. The organizers of the European Polymer Congress 2007 are as follows: the EPF, the Polymer section of the Slovenian Chemical Society, the National Institute of Chemistry, the University of Ljubljana and the University of Maribor. This event is of a great value and importance in the field of Slovenian scientific and research work, as well as for the promotion of Slovenia itself.

More than 600 participants from all over the world are expected to attend the European Polymer Congress 2007 (EPF-2007, www.epf2007.org) which will cover all key areas in polymer science, bridging fundamental and applied aspects. Eight sessions will run in parallel, covering chemistry and physics of polymers, advanced applications, modeling and simulation, processing, recycling and advanced characterization of polymers and polymeric materials. There will be 14 plenary lectures and approximately 70 invited lectures given by renowned scientists from all over the word including seven Slovenian speakers. The attendance of the Nobel Prize winner, Prof. Dr Jean-Marie Lehn from France is to be confirmed at a later date.
