Curran International expands coatings technologies in new licensing agreement with Saekaphen GmbH

Curran International expands coatings technologies in new licensing agreement with Saekaphen GmbH Curran International, Inc., a leading coatings application provider serving the global power, petrochemicals, HVAC and shipping industries, recently announced it has signed a licensing agreement with German- based Saekaphen GmbH, to offer Saekaphen coatings products for tubing used in heat-transfer equipment throughout refineries, pipelines and vessels. The agreement adds to Curran's range of materials technologies for corrosion protection and maintenance of immersion equipment used in the chemical, energy and shipping industries.

The agreement, in effect since January 1, 2007, states that Curran International, Inc. is a licensed applicator of Saekaphen (GmbH) technology protective coatings. The two firms are recognized leaders in the application of protective linings to heat exchanger tubes inner diameters (IDs), which inhibits scale and foul accumulation common in cooling water systems, and provides corrosion protection. Heat-transfer equipment, including commercial HVAC systems, steam condensers and heat exchangers used in chemical and electrical plants, plays a critical role in the processes that involve cooling water to reduce temperatures of feedstock or gases in these settings.

Protective thin-film coatings treat the steel tube bundles for higher resistance to corrosion, fouling and other common bottlenecks. This dramatically reduces the need for routine maintenance and cleanings, positively impacting operational efficiency. The use of thin- film linings has saved refinery clients millions of dollars annually in lost opportunity and maintenance costs by improving the performance of fixed equipment running cooling water.

Saekaphen GmbH is a developer of liquid thermosetting resins and has provided high performance coatings to the petrochemical and industrial process industry for more than 50 years. Headquartered in Germany, Saekaphen (GmbH) is a recognized leader in thin film coating formulations, with proven technologies for heat exchangers, vessels and pipelines. Saekaphen (GmbH) is a privately held company, with licensed applicators worldwide.
