Article Type: Industry news From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 38, Issue 1
Plastican Inc. announced expansion of its research and development capabilities at the company’s manufacturing facilities in Leominster, Massachusetts, the largest plastic pail manufacturing plant in North America.
The planned addition will allow Plastican to further develop its line of proprietary molding technologies and to expedite manufacturing processes for several new patented packaging concepts such as a new series of twist and lock containers, and new additions to its extensive line of environmentally favorable lightweight containers. Plastican’s R&D investment will also expand its capabilities to test next generation heat transfer labeling.
The new facility will include two new molding machines dedicated to R&D as well as additional personnel assigned to R&D projects. The expansion is an indication of Plastican’s continued commitment to innovative, customer-oriented solutions. A leader in the manufacture of rigid plastic packaging, Plastican specializes in open-head HDPE industrial pails and covers. Plastican’s pails range in size from 1 to 6 1/2 gallons and are used to transport a wide variety of products, including paints, foods, construction supplies, janitorial supplies, lubricants, specialty chemicals, pool chemicals, and pet-care products.
