PerkinElmer expands line of GC/MS spectrometers

Article Type: New products From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 38, Issue 1

PerkinElmer, a global leader in application-focused measurement and analysis solutions, recently announced an expansion of the company’s gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) product line with the introduction of the Clarus 560 S GC/MS. It is designed specifically for environmental, food, pharmaceutical and forensic laboratories that want a robust, reliable GC/MS system that offers both value and high performance.

The Clarus 560 S GC/MS is an integrated solution providing users with the needed sensitivity, mass range and speed to ensure high levels of productivity and performance at an affordable price in a single quadrupole mass spectrometer. Based on the proven Clarus MS platform, the system includes state-of-the-art electronics, ion optics and a quick-change ion source. In addition, it features an efficient turbomolecular pump to rapidly achieve vacuum and reduce the downtime in laboratories where column changes are frequent.

“By combining our robust Clarus 500 GC with some of the performance features of our high-end 600 MS series, we believe the Clarus 560 S represents great value for both routine and research laboratories,” said Richard Begley, PhD, president, Analytical Sciences, PerkinElmer. Begley added, “This instrument is an example of our continued commitment to bringing improvements in performance to a wider audience.”

The Clarus 560 S data handling suite includes the latest reporting capabilities with templates for the specific needs of labs conducting environmental, forensic and general chemical analyses. For added flexibility, users have the option of integrating one of the TurboMatrix Headspace or Thermal Desorber sampling accessories for increased productivity and extended application capabilities.
