American Powder Coatings, Kelley Technical Coatings form alliance

Article Type: Industry news From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 39, Issue 1

American Powder Coatings, Inc. (APC) and Kelley Technical Coatings (KTC) have formed a partnership. Kelley Tech will sell and market APC powder coatings in an exclusive territory to include parts of Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.

“For some time now APC has been seeking a strategic alliance with a coatings company to represent our full sales effort in the Midwest and South,” said Brett Suvagia, VP of APC. “Forming this alliance with Kelley Tech provides immediate sales coverage through technical sales representatives with broad and successful experience in all aspects of powder coatings. The companies have many synergies and we will be able to hit the road running.”

“Kelley Technical has also been seeking a strategic partner in powder coatings and our two firms are a perfect match in terms of operating philosophy,” said Nelson Augé, President of KTC. “APC focuses on customers in every detail of the relationship, they provide best of class in terms of quick response, perfect quality from the first batch forward, rapidly address all customer field service needs, and are extremely competitive based on lean manufacturing. APC offers excellent flexibility to make a full range of batch sizes for quick turnaround shipments or stocking purposes. APC is also ISO9001 certified which meshes well with our business and process management systems.”

The APC/KTC alliance culminates in being able to offer the customer a very cost-effective solution. APC offers competitive pricing and KTC serves as a value added proposition in aggressive selling in a territory that is already being actively covered in KTC's liquid initiatives. KTC will be the direct selling arm of APC and thus leverages an already attractive business solution for many customers. This relationship will allow customers to reduce their material costs, improve quality, and shorten their lead times on special jobs.

APC serves most powder coating markets and industries, including agricultural, appliance, automotive, display, electrical, furniture, lawn and garden, lighting, and other metal finishing industries. APC operates from a state-of-the-art powder manufacturing facility in Saint Charles, Illinois.

KTC serves a broad array of customers through two divisions – swimming pool and deck coatings division and industrial division – both located in Louisville, Kentucky.
