The first paper has been written after the Sixth Mediterranean Social and political Research Meeting, which was held at Montecatini Terme (16-20 March 2005) – European University Institute, Florence.

Sibel Yamak has written a paper on “Changing institutional environment and business elites in Turkey”. This topic has become a crucial issue for Mediterranean countries confronted to new challenges related with their industrial development today.

Katia Passerini has proposed a text on “The power of alliances: the case of the Ugandian infectious diseases institute initiative”. This paper focuses on describing the type of relationships that involved public, private and non profit organizations in the visioning planning and building of a large-scale HIV/AIDS treatment center.

Scott Williams offers a text on the prescriptive value of ethical decision making models in an attempt to demonstrate the value of more comprehensive evaluation.

With “For a Symmetrical Understanding of Organizing and Arguing”, Hervé Corvellec proposes a paper on how argumentation contributes to organizational sense-making and how organizations act as social loci for the production, diffusion and development of arguments. It is based on a study made on a Swedish association dedicated to the defense and promotion of nuclear power.

With “Do NGOs influence entrepreneurship? Insights from the development of biotechnologies and nanotechnologies”, Claire Auplat explores entrepreneurship with a study based on the creation of new technological ventures in the emerging field of biotechnology and nanotechnology.

With this issue, the wide range of papers is mirroring again the diversity of issues related with society and business relations with a diversity of stances.
