Strategic audit
Grundy T. Financial Management (UK), September 2007, Start page: 44, No. of pages: 2
Purpose – to discuss the audit of corporate strategy. Design/methodology/approach – sees a strategy audit as a company health check to spot weaknesses at an early stage and to address governance problems. Points out that it can deal with various levels, areas and strategies, raises some questions which could be used to focus on competitors, customers and the cost base; and explains how managers can score the answers. Illustrates a strategic option grid as an alternative way to use scores, lists various methods of implementing a strategy audit and identifies ways in which it can add economic values, including the reduction of “unhelpful politics”. Believes that management accountants are ideally suited to this type of project and sidebars a very brief case study. Originality/value – explains the basics of strategic audit.ISSN: 1471-9185Reference: 36AZ190
