Under the terms of the agreement, Polar Instruments will sell Fabmaster (http://www.fabmaster.com) CIM automation software with their new Polar FT100 Prober Fixtureless Test System. Fabmaster will provide a fast, low-cost link between CAD systems and FT100 Probers.

Commenting on the agreement, Martyn Gaudion, marketing manager of Polar Instruments, said "The Polar FT100 is fast and accurate, typically achieving five tests per second on boards containing devices with 0.4mm lead pitch and above. Fabmaster recovers board design data from over 40 CAD systems and automatically generates the parts and pins data required to drive the prober. The accuracy of the CAD data recovered by Fabmaster means that FT100 users can take full advantage of the prober's high accuracy. And since Fabmaster typically inputs CAD data and outputs data for the FT100 in a matter of minutes, the whole test process is greatly accelerated. In addition, Fabmaster's comprehensive CAD graphics make it easy to locate individual parts and part pins on today's dense SMD boards and to highlight the differences between two revisions of the same board."
