GenRad, Inc. has announced that its GR Software business unit has been selected by Celestica to provide Shop Floor Data Manager™ (SFDM™ ) software for worldwide implementation. The three-year contract includes a phased implementation scheduled to begin in February 1999.
Celestica chose SFDM as a part of a strategic initiative to enhance quality compliance and process controls, and ultimately provide ease of information access and sharing with its OEM customers on a worldwide basis. SFDM was piloted in Celestica's Fort Collins, CO and Monterrey, Mexico manufacturing facilities.

"Celestica's core competency is full-service manufacturing. We wanted to partner with a company that is an expert in the field of data management and that could provide a solution that meets the rigors of our requirements without compromise. After a detailed evaluation, we chose SFDM. It is flexible enough to handle all our requirements, including system build and printed circuit board assembly. Its standard configuration enables rapid installation without customisation, and straightforward integration with other systems."
