Montford Instruments, well-known for its high quality range of climatic test chambers, has had a very positive response to the launch of its stylish 500 Series range (Plate 3).

Designed around a multi-purpose frame, the chamber is built up from a selection of swap-in modules to provide the functionality required. In this way the chamber can be built to order from modules assembled in quantity, bringing Montford chambers within the budgets of most users by effectively providing a quantity discount on single units. This in turn means that users no longer have to compromise on equipment specification in order to meet tight funding budgets.

The innovative range is in response to extensive market research and the result of a two-year design programme. The units are mobile and compact and have rather cleverly been designed to pass through standard doorways, for easy installation and flexibility of use. There is even a version which runs straight off a standard 13 Amp supply.

Covering temperatures from +200°C to - 70°C and humidities from 20 per cent rh to 95 per cent rh, and featuring compressor, liquid nitrogen or liquid carbon dioxide cooling, the range has been very well received, and with prices from under £10,000 this highly acclaimed series is already making its mark.
