Vitronics Soltec's Flux Management^TM (FM) in Quantis Pro SMT reflow soldering systems is a revolutionary approach to the removal of process contaminants from reflow soldering systems (Plate 2). FFC has solved the sticky problem of keeping flux gases out of the cooling zone, and keep the oven interior clean. FM prevents flux contaminants from ever reaching the cooling zone, where they can condense and cause product contamination as well as corrosive build-up on oven parts. FM does this without the need for filters or condensers, thus reducing system maintenance dramatically. With FM, flux vapours, PCB outgassing, and airborne contaminants – all by-products of the reflow soldering process – are effectively managed and removed in inert or nitrogen atmosphere processing machines without wasting costly nitrogen. The key to FM is a patented Individual Zone Exhaust principle. Process gas is re-circulated in a manner that inhibits flow into the cool zones, concentrating contaminants for exhausting through the normal ducting. A positive inert gas pressure keeps contaminants out of the cooling module, while the oven is able to maintain a consistently pure inert processing environment without accelerating gas usage. Flux Management puts an end to messy filters, tough cleaning problems and their associated scheduled downtime and lost production. Additionally, flux vapours stay away from the cooling module.
