Metcal CD-ROM for BGA rework and repair know-how

Keywords Publication, Rework, Metcal

Production tools and rework specialist, Metcal, has made access to its industry-leading expertise in BGA rework even more accessible to European customers with the launch of a dedicated CD-ROM. The highly comprehensive CD includes a wealth of information about every aspect of BGA rework, together with full contact details and technical information about both Metcal and its BGA rework products. In the first of four sections, users open a "References" section containing informative application details about the experiences of existing Metcal customers who are using its BGA rework and repair equipment.

This is followed by a highly useful "Contact and support" section which shows a map of Europe and lists every Metcal subsidiary and distributor for immediate and easy reference by geographical location. In addition, customers can find similar worldwide contact information about Metcal's parent company, OK International.

The third section on the CD comprises a full "catalogue" and technical brochures of Metcal's BGA, CSP and array package rework systems, including a data sheet on its latest BGA3500 Micro Oven Rework System, one of the most powerful rework heater systems available on the market today. It consists of a specially designed domed dish and diffuser to allow forced convected hot air to be evenly distributed across the underside of even the largest PCBs for the safe repair and removal of BGAs.

The final section of the new Metcal BGA CD-ROM is a detailed "technical data" reference area that includes invaluable up-to-date information and notes on BGA technology and processes, PCB design considerations, profiling for BGA rework, and dip transfer methods. And because of the many similarities between BGA and odd-form rework, a detailed examination of the former is also included.

All CD sections have been produced with the assistance of specialist Metcal technical experts to make them as useful and relevant to the needs of customers as possible. As such, the new Metcal BGA CD-ROM is an invaluable reference resource for anyone involved in modern assembly and rework.
