PMJ automec Corporation expands its UK headquarters

Finnish-owned assembly automation and odd-form giant, PMJ automec Corporation, has moved its UK headquarters into a brand new state-of-the-art facility at Wigan (Plate 2).

The new purpose built site is located on a beautiful canal-side development and includes a 300-seat conference facility that somewhat conveniently has its own bar.

"Having outgrown our former site in Cheshire", comments PMJ's Worldwide Sales and Marketing Vice President, Peter Chan, "we needed a new location for our UK headquarters that exploited the latest advanced manufacturing and communications technologies in order to fully support PMJ's rapid UK and global growth.

"The Wigan facility totally fulfils this requirement and now houses our entire UK sales, service and support operations. It also allows us to offer top class on-site training to our customers, and application-specific manufacturing and customisation of our industry leading automation equipment."

PMJ says it selected Wigan because the town has an excellent transport infrastructure and is well placed for easy access to the major M6 motorway nearby.

The area also has university-level education facilities and it is PMJ's intention to contribute to the local community by making technical presentations to nearby colleges in order to educate young people about, and possibly attract them to a career in, the dynamic and booming worldwide electronics industry.

"PMJ's re-location to Wigan proves that Northern England has become a highly attractive and successful region for high technology businesses", continues Chan. "It also justifies the years of investment and effort that have been ploughed into local colleges to expand their core traditional focus from mechanical and mining engineering studies to electronics engineering as well".

"All in all, our UK operations have never been so strong", concludes Chan, "while our mission to focus on the exact needs of our customers and become a one-stop solution provider for end-of-line assembly has been even further enhanced".
