Electronic assembly specialist, Norcott EMS (Norcott), has appointed Dave Forster as its new quality manager, as the company seeks to back up its high quality service with a number of technical accreditations (Plate 1).

Dave, who has 34 years experience in the electronics industry, will oversee the development of company's quality standards, and accelerate its adoption of a continuous improvement philosophy. He joins Norcott from Chase Advance Technologies in Bradford, where he held a similar role. Before this he spent many years at Racal in a number of roles which gave him a 360° view of every aspect of electronics manufacturing.

Consequently, this makes Dave the ideal choice to spearhead Norcott's efforts towards gaining official recognition of the excellence of its processes and procedures. He has already played an instrumental role in the company gaining BSI Kitemark accreditation to the IPC-A-610 standard. Having already achieved Class 3 (the highest quality standard) the scope has also been extended to cover Norcott's lead-free, RoHS compliant processes.

His next step will allow Norcott to further demonstrate it's capability with the imminent assessment to ISO 9001:2000. Dave is also spearheading the development of a number of additional accreditations that also includes the ISO 14001 environmental management standard.

Dave comments: “I relished the challenge of joining a first-rate company which truly recognised the importance of improving its quality and quality standards in driving its business forward. It is certainly very refreshing to be presented with the opportunity to build these quality processes from such a technically competent baseline, and things are going very well.”

Norcott EMS managing director, Pete Lomas, concludes: “We are delighted to welcome such an experienced and committed individual as Dave to the company and look forward to him playing a leading role in raising standards at Norcott for many years to come.”

Dave is a motor sports enthusiast, lives in Warrington and is married with two teenage children.
