Special issue on quality management in Kenya and East Africa

Article Type: Call for papers From: The TQM Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5.

For nearly 60 years, the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) has been committed to the promotion of excellence and integrity in the practice of management. There are many individuals and organizations in Kenya and the diaspora who have been teaching, researching and practising many aspects of quality management within academic institutions, service and manufacturing companies in both the public and private sectors in Kenya. These individuals and organizations have a large amount of knowledge and experience to share with a wider audience.

For the first time in a single journal, The TQM Journal will be publishing a Special Issue to collect and publish leading-edge research and practice regarding the management of quality in Kenya and East Africa. This will give authors and organizations, academics and practitioners, an opportunity to showcase the extent and maturity of quality management practices in Kenya and East Africa to an international audience.

We intend to publish research addressing or studying any aspect of quality management including and not limited to:

  • Business excellence Models applications and development trends in Kenya and East Africa such as Organizational Performance Index (OPI)

  • ISO 9001

  • Continuous Improvement

  • Lean Six Sigma

  • TQM

  • Customer Satisfaction

  • Costs of Quality

  • Quality Culture

  • Change Management

  • Service Quality

  • Intelligent quality tools and methods

  • Business process improvement

  • Organizational Excellence and productivity.

Papers appearing in this special issue can have a theoretical focus, e.g. proposing new quality models and methodologies, or an empirical orientation, e.g. examining the ``how, where, when, why, who and what'' of the past, present or future of quality management initiatives, or both. Theoretical pieces, review articles, case studies, surveys and other empirical papers are all welcome.

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All papers are refereed through a double blind peer review process. A guide for authors and sample articles are available on The TQM Journal web site at: www.emeraldinsight.com/products/journals/ journals.htm?id=tqm

Please submit papers via the ScholarOne online manuscript system available at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tqm
