Purpose – Studies the mechanics of company strategic alliances, focusing on the level of a single alliance between two companies, to investigate the major success factors that explain the success of a given alliance, and then to extend the investigation to include the case of a company engaged in multiple alliances over time. Design/methodology/approach – The study comprises a detailed review of the literature of strategic alliances and the factors involved in their success or failure. Discusses the paradox of strategic alliances, where companies face significant obstacles in ensuring success with alliances, yet need to form a greater number of alliances than before and must increasingly rely on them to enhance their competitiveness and growth.Article type: Literature reviewISSN: 1558-9080Reference: 38AT594
