Abstract
Discusses the cultural differences which begin from birth in Ethiopia. Cites modern education as a new phenomenon stating that female education lags behind its counterpart. Shows how this has an impact on the participation and performance of women later in life, in their access to decision‐making positions and their participation in their country’s development. Outlines recent developments and highlights future needs.
