Abstract

Examines the way subscription agents must adapt to changing market needs as intermediaries between libraries and publishers. Compares the value of printed journals as a means of disseminating academic information with the cost advantages of electronic media. Surmises that while printed journals remain essential for peer‐review purposes, the use of electronic media will grow and the subscription agent must embrace these new formats.
