Abstract

Outlines the issues facing those providing access through networked CD‐ROM databases, looking in particular at the limitations to users. Profiles the University of Wisconsin‘s solutions to these problems include the use of tape loading onto several computers and the implementation of a Silver Platter ERL server. Looks at the issues these solutions caused. Assesses Adaptive Computer Technologies in General Library Systems and mentions areas for future development.
