Abstract

Argues the effectiveness of regulation can be enhanced once monopoly local loop facilities are separated from the remainder of the network and services. Asserts some companies might see Telcos having to create separate “loopcos”, but believes it would maximize their commercial position in the telecommunications marketplace. Uses 2 figures to explain in full the possible and alternative structure of BT. Concludes regulations and governments have vital roles to play in the process of achieving an improved competitive framework.
