Special issue devoted to AIRTEC “Supply on the Wings” conference

Article Type: Editorial From: Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology: An International Journal, Volume 87, Issue 2

This issue of the international journal Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology is directly linked to the yearly organized international conference, “Supply on the Wings”, which is part of the AIRTEC Congress embedded in the International Aerospace Supply Fair AIRTEC (http://www.airtec.aero) held in Frankfurt, Germany. The last conference was on 5-7 November 2013 and covered scientific and industrial presentations, connecting practice and science by more than 100 speakers from 20 nations. The program covered the following timely topics on emerging technologies for aerospace:

  • research and development summit with the topics “Future Aircraft Design” and “Composites”;

  • supply chain summit;

  • additive manufacturing;

  • SAMPE tutorials to the topics manufacturing, testing and repair;

  • composite structures;

  • metallic structures;

  • manufacturing/production;

  • improved simulation; and

  • engines.

The highlights were 32 keynote presentations or presentations in the summits. The yearly event is an ideal meeting place for professionals from the area of development, engineering, project management, business administration, production, manufacturing, procurement and related fields. Most noteworthy, the inclusion of the conference in the AIRTEC Exhibition allows for excellent discussions between science and industry. The proceedings of all the AIRTEC Congress 2013 are publically available under ISBN 978-3-942939-10-2.
