The 2008 North American Congress on Social and Environmental Accounting Research

The 2008 North American Congress on Social and Environmental Accounting Research(1st CSEAR Summer School in North America)

July 7-9, 2008, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada

Congress The Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR) has held an annual conference in the UK (often referred to as the Summer School) for almost two decades.

This is a preliminary announcement that the 2008 North American Congress on Social and Environmental Accounting Research (1st CSEAR Summer School in North America) will be held in July 2008 in beautiful Montreal, Canada. All plenary and parallel sessions will be held at Concordia University’s facilities.

Similar to the CSEAR UK Summer School, the Congress will be a deliberately informal gathering of researchers, teachers, students and practitioners concerned with social and environmental accounting, teaching and research in the very widest sense. Limited to a maximum of 60 delegates, the emphasis is on a high level of interaction, discussion and debate in a friendly, supportive and relaxed atmosphere. Attendees are likely to include academics, practitioners and doctoral students at all levels of experience, and involved with all aspects of social, environmental and sustainability accounting, reporting, theory and practice.

To inaugurate CSEAR in North America, the plenary speaker will be Professor Rob Gray, Professor of Social and Environmental Accounting at the University of Saint Andrews, School of Management and Director of the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research

RegistrationFurther details will be announced towards the end of 2007. An online system is currently being explored.

Call for papersThe exact format of the Congress is yet to be decided and finalised. Depending on the demand level from registrants and the papers offered, presentations will take place either in a single session or parallel sessions.

Please note that the deadline for abstracts is February 28, 2008 and full papers should be submitted by April 15, 2008 to ccho@jmsb.concordia.ca.
