1,000-ton hydraulic press installed with turbine blade manufacturer

Mackey Bowley International Ltd have supplied and installed at Preci-Spark's Loughborough factory a specially adapted press to manufacture components for the aerospace industry. The press is of the downstroke type, having 1,000-tons load, and is equipped with a bottom 200-ton cylinder, all incorporated in a window frame construction to provide a work area 650mm × 900mm. The main ram has a stroke of 300mm, with the daylight set at 500mm, enabling Preci-Spark to increase their range of fabrications produced for the aerospace industry.

Control of the press is accomplished with a Mitsubishi MAC E 700 PLC control unit which, with fitted linear transducers, allows for full positional control and information data to enable all control functions and operating procedures to be monitored both at the data access unit screen and also transferred for ensured repeatability.
