Rayfast supplies Lockheed C-130J Hercules programme

Interconnection specialist Rayfast is supplying wire, tubing and screening braid for engine nacelles on the Lockheed C-130J Hercules transport aircraft programme. The nacelles, including all systems except the engine, are designed and manufactured by GKN Westland Aerospace on the Isle of Wight.

Each nacelle has some 15 separate looms for which Rayfast is supplying Raychem Spec 55 lightweight, high temperature wire, Viton heat-shrinkable, high temperature tubing and Raybraid super flexible braiding for the electrical screening of wire bundles. The nacelles, four per aircraft, are being shipped to Lockheed in Atlanta at a rate of 18-20 aircraft sets a year,

The company is two years into a five year contract with GKN Westland. The C-130J is currently undergoing certification trials prior to entering service with the RAF later this year.
