Keywords British Airways, Intentia, Software
British Airways is investing £750,000 in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system Movex Aviation for its new component engineering business (BACE).
It is the first sale in the UK aviation market for Intentia, the global ERP software group. However, the system is currently used by several others including Scandinavian Airlines, Finnair and FFV Aviocomp (Celsius Group).
Movex Aviation will be implemented by the British Airways' IT consultancy, Speedwing that will work as systems integrators with Intentia. Speedwing is widely recognised in the aviation industry for its specialised business knowledge and its consultancy experience in all aspects of the aviation business.
Based near Heathrow, BACE will support aircraft maintenance programmes run by British Airways Engineering that handles its own fleet of more than 250 aircraft as well as third party contract work for other aircraft operators and their fleets. The new BACE facility will specialise in the repair and overhaul of aircraft pneumatic and hydraulic flight components, power generation units and fuel units.
