Keywords: Hartzell Propellers, Certification, Aircraft

Hartzell Propeller Inc. reports that it has received FAA certification for its 84in. three-bladed aluminium, compact propeller system for the FBA-2Cl Bush Hawk utility aircraft. Production deliveries to Found Aircraft's Canadian manufacturing facilities commenced in March. The Hartzell prop was selected after a competitive fly-off. The prop was designed with wide chord blades to excel in low-speed thrust performance, a critical area for all aircraft operating on floats or in other bush applications. Hartzell's extensive experience with float/bush plane applications was thought to be a significant part of the ultimate awarding of the contract.

The Bush Hawk has been certified by Transport Canada on floats as well as on conventional gear. Certification in the USA is pending. The aircraft is a high-wing, all metal five seater. The company expects to deliver as many as four aircraft a month once production is fully under way.
