Hyde continues with aerospace project

Keywords Hyde Precision, Software, Data collection

It is reported that following the success of the Mansys KPS software system at Manchester-based Hyde Precision, part of the Hyde Group of companies, it has now been rolled-out to cover more divisions of the company.

Mansys' software system, Key Production Systems (KPS) is described as a modular system designed to collect shopfloor data in a number of tooling and manufacturing industries, with the aim to monitor each process involved to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. According to Mansys, the software proved so successful for Hyde Precision that it will now be installed throughout the Hyde Aero products division.

Once the system is installed, it will mean projects commissioned by customers such as British Aerospace can be progressed throughout the network of companies to ensure delivery on time. Hyde Aerospace operations director Mike O'Donnell explains:

For a multi-disciplined company like ourselves, it is highly beneficial for us to be able to manage a project through such a working network. The KPS system means the contract can be managed successfully and cost-effectively to meet the demands of our highly valued customers.

Another bonus of the system is said to be that the access to information on any project at any time is gained instantly. Any colleague can access the system to look at a project and check that it is on schedule at the touch of a button. This information can reportedly then be relayed back to the customer within seconds.

Neale Cook, managing director of Doncaster based Mansys, comments:

With so much pressure on companies to compete with the big manufacturers in the Far East, linking a group of companies to manage a workload together is an extremely worthwhile project. Our system boasts many benefits, not only through the management and scheduling of a project, but also ensuring it is delivered profitably, and we are keen to pass on these benefits to other companies keen to improve their competitive edge.
