Keywords Racal Instruments, Testing

Racal Instruments has been awarded a substantial order from Shorts Missile Systems (SMS) of Belfast, UK, to supply test facilities to support the Starstreak High Velocity Missile (HVM) systems. The HVM (Starstreak) has been designed to defeat all current and future ground attack helicopters and aircraft.

Racal Instruments will supply the Test Sets, First Line (TSFLs) which are deployed with the three variants of HVM launcher:

  1. 1.

    self propelled (SP) on the Stormer armoured vehicle;

  2. 2.

    lightweight multiple launcher (LML); and

  3. 3.

    shoulder launched (SL).

In addition, Racal Instruments will supply the Application Test Packages (ATPs) used to maintain modules of the HVM Guidance system in the field and at army depot. These ATPs are used in conjunction with the Racal Instruments supplied and maintained general purpose automatic test equipment to diagnose and repair faults down to component level.
