Airbus UK reports that it has awarded a 1.7 million contract to the construction services company, Dean & Dyball. The contract is for the detailed design and construction of a new building to house a test rig of the landing gear system for Airbus's new superjumbo – the A380. This landing gear test rig, to be located at Airbus, Filton. near Bristol, will it is believed be the biggest ever built for a commercial aircraft project.

The metal clad building will have a curved roof and will be 16.7m high, 39m wide and 44.5m in length. It features include a half glazed control room, high level windows, vehicular access door, a projected glazed entrance screen, an office suite, conference facilities and a visitors viewing platform.
