Surface cleaning blasters go mobile

Keywords: Surface cleaning, Aerospace industry

New from MK Technologies of Manchester, UK, are portable surface cleaning blasters developed for use by the aerospace industry.

Available in two sizes, the dry-blasters use aviation grade solidstrip media which according to MKT safely removes paints and coatings from aircraft structures allowing ultrasonic safety inspections to be carried out on site.

They are said to leave a clean, unmarked substrate ready for testing or re-painting. They are also claimed to operate without peening cracks and can also be used for refurbishment work and rust removal.

The smallest blaster, the new MKT BP8 is 12 x 18' x 24", weighs only 61 lbs and holds 8 lbs of aviation grade plastic media.

The larger, the MKT BP14 is 20" x 20" x 30", weighs 791bs and holds 141bs of media.

Both are believed small enough to be taken to virtually any UK or overseas location for civil or military use. They are totally stated to be self contained, requiring only a compressor airline for successful operation.

The new portable blasters are available for hire or purchase, complete with easy fit media bags and operator protection wear, direct from MK Technologies, an IS09002 accredited company.
