A revolution in rubber

The Icon Polymer Group, based in Retford, Nottinghamshire, is said to be taking the lead in UK rubber processing, supplying a wide range of specialised and general technical industries in the UK, the United States and worldwide.

A major step forward has been the Group's acquisition of two major players in the UK's rubber industry – the Northern Rubber Company in Retford and William Warne Limited of Barking. The newly expanded Group now finds itself at the cutting edge of rubber processing, and is a leading international supplier of technical rubber components.

Icon reports that it has made considerable advancements within many of its operating sectors, and notably within the Aerospace and Defence sector as the acquisition of new equipment and modernised manufacturing facilities has enabled the Group to meet the specific demands required by its worldwide customers. There has been significant investment, and Icon claims to have some of the most advanced production facilities available. Its in-house rubber mixing facilities enables the company to offer the widest possible range of natural and synthetic compounds.

Icon supply hand fabricated and moulded items for a variety of applications within aerospace and defence industries, notably for Fighter Aircraft and Land Fighting Vehicles. Other major components produced by Icon include in-flight refueling hoses, aircraft seals, dueling, and door hatch seals for armoured vehicles.
