Keywords: Surface preparation, Blasting, Cleaning

USF Surface Preparation has launched a pressure-fed version of its Typhoon hand blast cabinet (Plate 11).

Previously available only as a suction model, the new high output, direct pressure Typhoon has a very small footprint, allowing it to fit into even the smallest workshop. The addition of a pressurised blast cleaning machine, media recovery and separation system mean that the Typhoon can tackle arduous surface preparation and cleaning tasks, but with the operating pressure adjusted and the appropriate media, is still capable of delicate processing.

It has a work chamber 900 mm wide 750 mm deep 700 mm high and will reportedly accept loads of 50 kgs. Standard features claimed include: a wide viewing window with high density fluorescent lighting for maximum operator visibility; full width access doors for easy loading and unloading and several operator safety features such as door interlock switch and a deadman switch on the foot pedal.

The Typhoon is supplied ready for immediate use being fitted with a mediametering valve, air pressure regulator/filter, blast hoses and nozzle. Designed for use with most types of blast media, all it requires is a single phase electric supply and compressed air source.
