Reaching new heights!

Reaching new heights!

Keywords: Measurement, Accuracy, Calculation

Mitutoyo recently introduced the new QM-Height which it states, delivers accuracy at ±(2.8+5L/1,000) μm, satisfying the most critical measurement needs (Plate 5).

Through the Mitutoyo ABSolute System, the QM-Height is said to operate with unlimited processing speed and set reference points – for measurements that lead to the quickest results. Other features claimed of this newest innovation include: numerical and visual red-green display when limit dimensions are exceeded or not met, bringing better and faster quality control.

In addition to height measurement, the QM-Height gives you inside/outside diameters, maximum and minimum height or height difference measurements, storing up to five measurement results in its internal memory.

Mitutoyo has also recently launched its IDC ABS Digimatic Calculating Indicator (Plate 6).

While conventional dial gauges only indicate the travel of the spindle, the IDC calculates the desired results directly from the spindle path using the integrated calculation functions. The multi-functional Indicator features an integrated Ax+B+Cx 1 calculating formula function, which coupled with special setting jigs, allows direct measurements of groove width, inside/outside diameters, distances etc. without manual calculations.

A measuring range of 12.7 (0.5 in.), switchable resolution, and accuracy of 0.003 mm (0.00012 inch) is said to enable highly accurate measurement results to be gained. Other features claimed of this gauge include the absolute function, Go/±NG tolerance setting, direction change, imperial/ metric conversion and an SPC output. Ease of use is reportedly guaranteed due to a large clear LCD screen, together with a 330° rotatable bezel, making for clear accurate reading and operation, whatever be the application.
