Mission consoles for Caledonian Airborne Systems
Article Type: News and views From: Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology: An International Journal, Volume 81, Issue 5
MAC Aircraft Interior Specialists, a UK aircraft interior refurbishment and manufacturing company, has been selected by Caledonian Airborne Systems Ltd to produce two sets of five mission consoles. The consoles will be installed on board two Jetstream-41 aircraft that are being converted to maritime duties for a major European Union (EU) Navy.
The console designs vary to meet three different airborne functions: mission management, sensor operation, and training. Each console will accommodate smart multi-functional displays of different sizes, a mission computer, navigation system, software loading facility, high-capacity gigabyte storage, multi-frequency radio transmission controllers, operational filters, and light and switches. The consoles also feature a robust footwell, adjustable foot rest with integral radio foot switch, baggage stowage and a retractable worktop accommodating integral keyboard and tracker ball.
