Disaster and After
Disaster and After:
An International Conference on the Practicalities of Information Services in Times of War and Other Catastrophes
The aim is to bring together experience of running and reinstating information services in war-torn areas and the scenes of disasters such as fire, flood and earthquake. The intention is to publish the conference proceedings (either as a separate book, or through the pages of IGLA's journal Focus) so that this pooled experience can be of as much use as possible to those facing similar problems.
The program will include invited papers, but IGLA also issues the following invitation to those who might wish to contribute.
Proposals are invited for papers to be included in the program of IGLA's 1998 Conference, "Disaster and After", both from practising librarians and from others with knowledge of providing information services under the constraints of war and comparable catastrophes.
Your proposal should include the title of the paper, your name, affiliation, address, phone, fax and email, and an abstract of no more than 200 words. Proposals should be sent to the Chairman of IGLA as soon as possible: Paul Sturges, Chairman IGLA, Department of Information and Library Studies, Loughborough University, Leicestershire LE11 3TU, United Kingdom. Fax: +44 (0) 1509 223053; E-mail: r.p.sturges@lboro.ac.uk
