David Damant has a degree in logic and scientific method from the University of Cambridge. He was a partner in Investment Research of Cambridge and in stockbrokers Quilter Goodison (Executive Committee); from 1977 onwards he pioneered the indexation of equity portfolios in the UK. Mr Damant was Managing Director of Paribas Asset Management (UK) and a consultant to the Credit Suisse Investment Management Group in London. He is currently a consultant to Cowell and Partners and to Sword Management Limited.

Mr Damant is a Fellow and former Chairman of the United Kingdom Society of Investment Professionals, where he is currently Chairman of the Accounting and Investment Advisory Committee. He was formerly President of the European Federation of Financial Analysts' Societies and represented the European Federation on the International Council of Investment Associations world-wide, of which he was a Co-chairman. Mr Damant is a member of the Global Financial Reporting Advocacy Group of the Association for Investment Management and Research. He was a member of the Board and the Executive Committee of the International Accounting Standards Committee, and is currently a member of IASC's Standards Advisory Council. Mr Damant has been the IASC Board member on the Russian Government's International Advisory Board on Accounting and Auditing and is currently Senior Advisor to the International Center for Accounting Reform in Moscow. He is Treasurer of the Institute of Quantitative Investment Research in the UK.
