Keywords Shipley, Morton, Acquisition

Shipley's parent company, Rohm and Haas, has become a $6.5 billion specialty chemical company following the acquisition of Morton Intemational, the Chicago-based manufacturer of specialty chemicals and salt. Rohm and Haas announced its intention to acquire Morton International on 1 February of this year for a combination of cash and stock totalling $4.9 billion. Morton International reported $2.5 billion in worldwide revenue in fiscal year 1998.

Of most interest to the printed circuit board industry is the fact that this combines in one group Shipley Ronal, the leading supplier of printed circuit chemicals, with Morton's Electronic Materials division, best known for its dry film products.
