Rohm and Haas vice chairman Rajiv Gupta will keynote the upcoming IPC Printed Circuits Expo, 2-6 April 2000, at the San Diego Convention Center.

"There is a trend toward supplier consolidation within the PWB industry", says IPC director of PWB industry programs, Jean Hebeisen. "With Rohm and Haas' recent acquisitions of Shipley-Ronal and Morton, Mr Gupta is ideal to describe what these events mean for manufacturers". Gupta's presentation will be given at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday 4 April.

In late 1998, Gupta was elected to the Board of Directors and named vice chairman of Rohm and Haas. He succeeded J. Lawrence Wilson as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at the end of 1999. He was elected vice president and was named director for the Pacific Region in 1993. In early 1996, Gupta became one of six members of the Chairman's Committee, responsible for the company's Electronic Materials business group.

In the 1980s, Gupta served as the business manager for Ion Exchange Resins in Europe and business director of Plastics. Later he became business unit director for the worldwide Plastics Additives business. Gupta holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, a master's degree in operations research from Cornell University, and a master's in finance from Drexel University. Gupta's is one of three keynote sessions during the week; the others are former NASA director Gentry Lee, and an industry roundtable with an OEM perspective on the key factors in purchasing PWBs.
