Robert Bürkle GmbH, Freudenstadt, has introduced a worldwide new technology for coating printed circuit boards. The Double-sided Hot Roll Coating (DHRC) system allows the application of low-solvent lacquers or solvent-free lacquers and as a result increases the quality and lowers the material resp. process costs.
The demand for printed circuit boards has increased, especially for "High Density Interconnect Structures" (HDI structures), with complicated structures, larger chip surfaces and an increasing density of I/Os.
Experts estimate the volume sales of such newly processed printed circuit boards will increase from US$400 million in the year 1996 up to more than US$2.5 billions this year and up to US$8.5 billion or even US$10 billion in the year 2005.
