IPC has announced the addition of three special interest group meetings to IPC Printed Circuits Expo.
SIGs are groups of professionals that share job responsibilities, such as human resources or accounting. The SIG meetings have been added to provide more educational opportunities for attendees, and to reach audiences that may not otherwise have an opportunity to attend IPC Printed Circuits Expo. The meetings address issues that might not otherwise be covered at the event. "Attendees will not only learn more about their own jobs at these meetings, but about the industry in which they are involved," says IPC director of PWB industry programs Jean Hebeisen.
The three SIG meetings taking place at Expo are:

Finance - When polled by IPC, industry CFOs overwhelmingly indicated that costing was the issue they would like addressed. Michael Schumacher of Cascade Consulting will make a presentation on simple costing models for totally integrated systems. He will also offer the cost/benefit for each solution.

Human resources/training - Gives training and human resource professionals practical, industry-specific ideas on a variety of workforce development issues, such as employee retention strategies, legal aspects of supervision, demonstrating training return on investment and many others.

Global competition: are the Asian PWB Manufacturers Winning Again? - Dan Feinberg, president of Fein-Line Associates, chairs a special session on US PWB and Asian competitiveness that will address: anti-competitiveness issues and remedies; competitiveness of the Asian PWB industry; and how a company can succeed against world-class competition.
