Du Pont Printed Circuit Materials have announced the introduction of Riston® LaserSeries LDI 300 hi-speed direct imaging resist, the second generation in a new series of photopolymer dry film photoresists for printed wiring board (PWB) fabrication. The Riston® LaserSeries, introduced by Du Pont in 1999, constitutes the first full line of photoresists developed specifically for UV laser direct imaging (LDI).

Piston® LaserSeries films are primarily targeted at Fabricators who are making the investment in LDI equipment and are looking to maximise their return. Developed in close co-operation with leading LDI equipment suppliers, Piston® LaserSeries films are compatible with all commonly used UV laser imagers, and work in every major PWB application to meet exact process requirements for small features, exact registration, and high density interconnect.

Laser direct imaging is rapidly gaining interest because it represents a step-change in flexibility, performance, and cost reduction. Not only does it provide potential improvements in yield and resolution. It also allows the elimination of phototools and associated process steps. With LDI, board feature density can be increased, less material is consumed and less waste is generated.
