Imaging and test workshops highlighted at IPC printed circuits expo

IPC has announced its professional development schedule for IPC Printed Circuits Expo, taking place 1-5 April 2001, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.

A total of 41 courses are scheduled, including 19 full-day tutorials on 1-2 April, and 22 half-day workshops taking place on 2 and 5 April.

Among the imaging and test workshops being offered are:

  • Advanced Tools for PWB Testing and Failure Analysis. This course will discuss the advanced test tools available today and emerging test technology. Attendees will learn how to determine the proper approach to failure and forensic analysis, and the decision-making process involved in selecting the correct types of tests/analysis.

  • Imaging Technologies for Advanced PWBs. Reviews, analysis and evaluations of laser direct imaging, direct structuring, projection lithography, and step and repeat systems.

  • Direct Write Exposure Techniques for PCB Imaging: The History and Future. Participants will learn about the latest developments in laser direct imaging (LDI) and how to evaluate this technology for use in their own facilities.

Other workshops being offered at IPC Printed Circuits Expo include Purchasing Printed Circuit Boards, Making PCB Equipment purchasing decision using "cost of ownership" Model and Value Selling in the PWB Industry.

Along with the scheduled workshops, several tutorials are being offered that highlight opportunities in industry education. Tutorials being offered at IPC Printed Circuits Expo include:

  • Traditional and HDI Bare Board Testing. Robert Hanson, president, AmeriCom Test and SMT Technology, Inc. This course will cover traditional test strategies, such as the pros and cons of universal/dedicated fixtures, single/double/quad density nail configurations and learning/bending pin layouts.

  • Selecting, Qualifying and Managing a PWB Manufacturer. Rolf Funer, PhD, President, Funer Associates and Dan Gough, business manager for PCBs and backplanes, Teradyne, Inc. Learn how to develop selection criteria, conduct effective PCB supplier audits and supply chain strategies, including improving business flexibility.
