Frontline launches the ODB++ Communicator

Frontline PCB Solutions has introduced its new, lightweight, affordable, easy-to-install and simple-to-operate ODB++ graphic communication tool, the ODB++ Communicator. Coded in Java®, platform independent and designed for use across private and Intranet networks, the ODB++ Communicator creates an electronic bulletin board in which people exchange information and graphic notes, thus eliminating phone calls and paper work which are usually a big time and effort-consuming part of inter-organizational communications.

The Web-based Communicator comprises a viewer and a messenger. The viewer shows tooling data as layers or panels, as it appears before committing resources to production, and enables different measurements to be made on the layer. The messenger allows you to send text messages and attach a graphic screen capture to the message. Message recipients can synchronize their view of the ODB++ database to the attached screen capture, permitting assorted staff to view, discuss and resolve production matters easily and swiftly.

The ODB++ Communicator is the ideal data bridge between engineering, CAM and the shop floor. The ODB++ Communicator made its debut at IPC 2001, after being qualified by several beta site partners in the UK and Israel. It is installed using the Windows InstallShield® and just as easily on Solaris and HP platforms as well.

Product highlights:

  • view ODB++ CAM data anywhere;

  • view panels, PCBs, profiles, tool tables, graphic notes, etc.;

  • perform measurements and verify critical dimensions;

  • discuss production issues over the network;

  • perform design review work groups across the network;

  • graphically pinpoint specific problems;

  • backtrack correspondence regarding production issues.
