Austrian News Digest: Austrian printed circuit board maker, Austria Technologie and Systemtechnik AG (AT&S) will start serial production in its plant in China in the spring of 2003, said the company's management board Chairman, Willi Doerflinger.

The plant, located in Shanghai, has 250 employees and is projected to generate a turnover of 100mln euro ($101.8mln) and a profit for the 2004/05 fiscal year ending March 31, 2005. The company invested 130mln euro ($132.3mln) in the plant, instead of the projected 145mln euro ($147.6mln), due to favourable equipment prices, said Doerflinger. AT&S generates 60 percent of its turnover from sales to telecommunication equipment producers and aims at lowering the share to 50 percent in mid-term. The remaining 50 percent will come from the automotive industry and measurement equipment producers.
