Mr Erik J. Bergum has been appointed vice- president sales – Polyclad Europe, by Cookson Electronics PWB Materials and Chemistry, Londonderry, New Hampshire (Plate 1).

Mr Bergum will be responsible for growing the sales and directing the technical service of the company's high performance laminates, prepregs and resin coated foils used in the printed wiring board and electronic packaging industries. He will also be supporting and expanding Cookson Electronics' Lamistrye systems of compatible PolycladJ materials, EnthoneJ chemical processes, and consultative services that enable PWB fabricators and assemblers the most cost- effective and reliable manufacturing of PWBs.

Mr Bergum was previously the company's vice- president of marketing and technical service with global responsibilities for marketing since 1999. Mr Bergum joined Polyclad in 1990 as a technical service engineer and has held numerous managerial positions with increasing responsibility in technical service, new product marketing and research and development functions. Prior to working for Polyclad, Mr Bergum worked for General Electric in a variety of technical roles.

Mr Bergum will be based at the Polyclad Sweden Perstorp facility. He is an active member of the IPC where he served as past chairman of the Printed Board Base Materials Committee and remains a member of the Technical Activities Executive Committee (TAEC). Mr Bergum is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BS degree in chemistry and chemical engineering. He also did graduate work at the University of St Thomas, Minnesota.
