DuPont announces price increase for Riston (dry film photoresists) and Vacrel (dry film solder masks)

Keywords: DuPont, Photoresist

DuPont printed circuit materials (PCM), part of DuPont Electronic Technologies, has announced that it is increasing the price of its DuPont™ Riston (dry film photoresists and DuPont™ Vacrel (dry film soldermasks in Europe. The increase, of between 7 and 11 per cent, is effective immediately in Europe, subject to terms and conditions of the existing contracts. Both Riston and Vacrel brands are used primarily in the manufacture of printed wiring boards. DuPont cites rising raw material, transportation and energy costs as the principle reasons for the increase.

"This has been a difficult decision to make," said Phil Britton, European business manager for DuPont PCM. "Our customer base is facing strong price pressure, especially from Asian fabricators. However, financial considerations ultimately define one's options in any business. We have, until now, absorbed substantial price increases in raw materials, energy costs and transportation. It has reached a point where we find it unavoidable to pass on some of these rising costs, bearing in mind that DuPont remains fully committed to the printed wiring board industry, and to providing the unparalleled quality and service customers expect from us."

DuPont invented Riston® dry film photoresist over 30 years back and remains as the industry leader with eight manufacturing locations in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
