The Library World Volume 22 Issue 5

Abstract

Parliament has now been in session for some weeks and we are waiting, as patiently as we may, for some indication of Government action in regard to libraries. Will the President of the Board of Education pronounce upon the matter soon? We hope so, but there are many factors to be considered, the congestion of business, the “economy stunt” of a certain section of the Press, and many other urgent matters will no doubt influence the position considerably. The suggestion, inaugurated by the newspapers, that the educational programme should be postponed or abandoned is unfortunate; because in our changed circumstances the whole future of public libraries is bound up with the progress of education.
