Abstract

Organisations that have used opinion surveys generally report mixed results on their success. There are always questions concerning what each item means, whether the results really reflect how people feel, or whether they reflect the mood the person was in on that day. The organisations that have had the most success in my experience are the ones that focus on the importance of response to the participants. It is important that action be taken on survey information, and that the information be viewed as statistically valid; but, more than anything else, the people who participate must receive some information concerning the results of their participation. Even those who choose not to participate must receive a response concerning the view of the organisation.
